Hostile Environment Construction
Hostile Environment Construction – Tactical Gear for Safety & Security
Construction projects in hostile environments—whether in war zones, extreme climates, or politically unstable regions—require more than just standard protective gear. Workers and security teams need specialized tactical equipment to ensure safety, operational efficiency, and protection against threats.
Why Tactical Gear is Essential for Hostile Environment Construction
Construction in unstable or hazardous regions presents unique challenges, including:
- Security Threats – Working in conflict zones or high-crime areas requires personal protection.
- Harsh Work Environments – Rough terrain, hazardous materials, and remote locations require durable equipment.
- Older Equipment – Older construction equipment may not have adequate storage features.

Tac-Tote Frequently Asked Questions
What are Tac-Tote tactical bags made of?
All soft good Tac-Tote products are made in upstate New York using strong 1000 Denier Cordura, webbing, and other miscellaneous materials.
Do you use rare earth magnets and what exactly are they?
The term “Rare Earth Magnets” often gets confused with what this actually means. Rare earth magnets are not harvested like clams or chicken eggs. The term “Rare Earth” actually represents a group of 17 metals that are relatively abundant in the Earth’s crust however they are difficult to extract and are rarely found in pure form, earning the name “rare earth.”
Do Tac-Tote bags interfere with modern electronics due to their magnetic properties?
Our magnets are constructed in a very magnetically efficient manner – the magnetic field is very focused, which means that most of the available magnetic flux is collected and concentrated by steel components around the magnet. That means in turn that while the magnets are very powerful the field does not reach very far. Generally speaking magnets do not have a negative effect on things like current smartphones due to their solid state drives and MagSafe charging technology which is designed to interact with magnetic fields. When in close proximity, a very strong magnet might temporarily interfere with a phone’s compass or magnetic sensors, but this is unlikely to cause permanent damage.
Where does Tac-Tote get its magnets?
Unfortunately the one less than desireable aspect of Tac-Tote products is domestic availability of magnetic components. Essentially all rare earth magnets used in industrial applications around the world are sourced from China. Although Tac-Tote purchases our magnets from a company based in California, the magnets do in fact originate from China.
How strong are your products?
This is a very common question and a very difficult one to answer given how many variables there are to consider. Like any magnet, they have their limitations and if they are overloaded they can fail. Tac-Tote products were developed to provide as much force as possible while keeping the magnetic components, and their weight, as minimal as possible. The individual sizes of each product were also designed so that the user will be limited by how much equipment can be placed inside in an effort to streamline organization but also to prevent overloading where possible. The surface thickness, the metal on a refrigerator door versus that found on an armored vehicle as an example, will be the largest factor on how your products will perform.
What kind of equipment can be stored in Tac-Tote bags?
Part of the beauty of Tac-Tote products is that you can use them for pretty much anything that fits and for any industry or hobby. From a personal weapons safe, an armored vehicle, or staged up high on a vehicle lift, Tac-Tote products can assist in how you operate in a wide variety of applications. We’ve seen them used in tactical applications quite a bit however there’s more than one customer using them to hold a cold beverage while mowing their field!
